Hello everyone! We are just writing to you from the hospital to let you know that Elise Marie Tomten was born last night, June 29 at 9:50 p.m. She weighs 8lbs 14 and 1/2 oz and is 22 and 1/4 in long. She has a lot of brown hair believe it or not and a bit of a cone head but is super cute and soooo good.
Just to fill everyone in, I was admitted yesterday morning around 7 am for an induction and they started me on the drugs around 9:45. I was very slow going for awhile and then they upped my dosage and things kicked into gear. I felt the contractions right away and thankfully got my epidural within a half hour or so. After that things were pretty great. I was in no pain, just really tired. We started to worry that she wasn't progressing and the dr was going to maybe give me something different if I hadn't dialated more by 5 pm that night. She was even talking about sending me home! Well, I wasn't having any of that! My mom and dad left to get dinner and were going to be back in about 45 min when the dr checked me and I had becom fully dialated (from a 5-10) in a matter of an hour or so. So, anyways they rushed back, only to have me push for 4 hours!!!! The dr finally was going to make me have a c-section if she didn't come out before 10 p.m. The problem was, she was turned on her side and kind of stuck I guess. Well I was not having a c section, especially not after 4 hours of pushing so I made the last 2 pushes count and just when I was about to give up, she came out! I was so relieved!
Jay and I stayed up all night admiring her, and now we are ready for some sleep. Thanks for all of your concern and well wishes! We will send out pictures as soon as we can! We can't wait for you all to meet her!
